Atha Yoga Shala's annual Summer Wellness WorkshopJal Neti Kriya | Asana | Pranayama
I firmly believe that “No disease that can be treated with diet and lifestyle changes should be treated by any other means.”
This workshop is designed to support essential lifestyle changes and introduce you to ancient Yogic techniques - Yog Kriya, practiced by Yogis for thousands of years. Techniques that, even today, continue to benefit people across the world.
During this 2.5-hour workshop, you’ll experience traditional revitalising Hatha Yoga asanas, learn Jal Neti Kriya (a sinus cleansing technique), and practice summer-specific cooling Pranayama.
Our workshop aims to empower you with a toolkit for self-care and holistic well-being, encouraging you to integrate these practices into your daily routine for overall health and vitality.
The workshop will flow as follows:
Hatha Yoga
A revitalising Indian Hatha Yoga-based asana practice with a focus on the mind-body-breath connection. With deep stretches, prolonged holds, and mindful breaths, this session will help release tension and serve as a perfect counterbalance to demanding lifestyles and intense workouts.
Jal Neti Kriya
The Sanskrit word, Jal’ means water, and ‘Neti’ means to guide or cleanse. Jal Neti is an ancient yogic nasal cleansing technique that purifies the sinuses, stimulates the brain, tones the optic nerves, and boosts immunity. Regular practice helps remove dust, pollen, and allergens, reduces sinusitis, soothes dry nasal passages, and enhances pranayama practice. It is especially beneficial during seasonal changes.
Pranayama
The Sanskrit word ‘Prana’ is the vital component that sustains life. ‘Prana’ refers to the vital life force, bio-energy and ‘ayama’ means control or regulation. Pranayama is a purifying process that reduces stress and anxiety, stabilizes blood pressure, increases energy levels, boosts immunity, and improves respiratory function. It harmonizes the autonomic nervous system, regulating essential functions like heart rate and blood pressure, and removes toxins. The session will include summer-specific cooling breathing techniques to naturally lower body temperature.
See you on the mat!

About Let Go to Grow
In today’s fast-paced world, we often forget to take time for ourselves, switch off and recuperate.
When you begin to consider the stresses that come with everyday life, things can quickly begin to feel heavy.
Now pile on busy agendas, work and social life - we begin to neglect dedicating time for ourselves. But don’t worry, Chloe and Rio have got you.
Let Go to Grow was curated with all of this in mind, an afternoon to retreat and slow down. Through yoga and breathwork your teachers will help you consider the idea of letting go of things that might be weighing you down, things that are no longer serving you - and by doing so, helping you to move forward feeling light and brand new.
Movement, breathwork and sound therapy (all included in the half-day retreat) help encourage a state of mindfulness where you’ll have the chance to reset, recharge and reconnect with your Self.

Autumn Equinox: Finding Balance with the Koshas"If a year was tucked inside of a clock, then Autumn would be the magic hour,"
— Victoria Erickson
Join me for a vinyasa workshop which focuses on balance and grounding via an exploration of the five koshas providing a lens through which to view our whole selves at this interesting time of year.
Equinox refers to a time when day and night are of equal length. An opportunity to honour the balance and interaction of light and dark, express gratitude for the changes that come with the passing of time, and to reflect on what we would like to let go of, as we enter a period of rest following the busy summer months settling into a new equilibrium.
Annamaya Kosha will be explored via a creative and at times challenging but grounding vinyasa practice also balancing the increasing vata energy and harnessing our attention through standing asanas, balances, forward folds and more. Variations/options will accommodate both those newer to yoga and yoga teachers/longer term practitioners.
Breathwork and accessible mindfulness practices provide opportunities to explore Pranamaya and Manomaya koshas. Connecting with the collective sense of nature so visible in autumn, the slowing down, the symphony of colour and scent before nature rests. Yoga Nidra will close the practice inviting a period of reflection upon the two inner layers of ourselves Vijnanamaya (wisdom) and Anandamaya (bliss).
Whilst the focus will be on a physical asana practice with breathwork and relaxation this workshop offers an opportunity to learn a little about these layers of awareness originating from the Taittiriya Upanishad. The Koshas add a richness and depth to our yoga practice helping us to take on the busyness of the season ahead. Homemade cake and refreshments will be offered towards the end of the workshop.
